Posts on Tiger Droppings, a Baton Rouge forum (2025 thread, 2026 thread). Anecdotes, not audited prices, but they show the spread: one 24 kW job came in at $8,600 plus about $1,500 for the switch and prep, while a retrofit of the same size was quoted at $18,200.

- Same kW, brand and fuel on every quote
- Transfer switch size (200 A or 400 A) and type (whole-house or essential circuits)
- Gas line or propane work, the pad, the permit and CO alarms all itemized
- Who handles the gas meter with Delta, Atmos or your city
- Warranty length, and what a maintenance visit costs after year one
One Baton Rouge buyer asked three dealers for a breakdown and got none. Ask for it in writing before you sign.
